Crawling

Well here we are just days before Kylie turns 8 months and she is so very close to crawling. She has figured out how to push herself around backwards on her tummy. She points her feet in the direction she wants to go and pushes w/ her arms until she is where she wanted to go. She figured this out about a week ago and w/in the last few days has been working on the hands and knees thing. She will push up from belly down on the floor to knees but promptly falls back onto her tummy. I know the days of limited movement is short. We will soon have two that can go virtually anywhere they want to and that makes me sad and nervous. My "baby" is growing so very fast.

7 Months Already?

I can't believe how quickly the time has passed! It seems like just yesterday that I was in the hospital trying to get my head around the fact that I was the mommy of two girls. Kylie has been sitting on her own for quite some time and is getting closer to crawling (big sister didn't achieve crawling until she was 9 months) every day. She rocks up on her legs when she is sitting to reach something that's a little too far away. Any day she'll actually get up on her knees and then it will only be a matter of time. She loves to sing and scream and talk. However, she still isn't interested in eating solids!? I don't get it, but every baby is different and I know that at some point she will take to it.

Backyardigans/ Holly's first show

On 8/16/08 Holly and I went to her very first show! She hasn't even been to the movies yet. "Backyardigans Live" was what we saw and for it being just over an hour long it kept her attention quite well! I was so impressed, and the excitement on her face brought tears to my eyes. She even (about 15 minutes into the show) got involved w/ the show yelling and dancing and clapping. I definitely saw her extravert side come out. Needless to say very moving and I can't believe how big my "Big Girl" is getting. I decided that buying her a Tshirt and a little doll was okay (at least this time) since it was a first. She wanted to wear the shirt before I could wash it and the doll (Tasha) has been carried around since we bought it. I want to be able to do things, just her and I, at least once a month so that she gets some alone w/ mom time. I have noticed that when I am able to spend the time just us she behaves better and is just happier it seems. All in all we had an excellent time!

Potty Training

Holly is becoming such a BIG girl! She is learning to use the potty. On Tuesday the 29th of July we began only putting her in a diaper for bed time, nap time, and if we were leaving the house. She has only had a few accidents, but usually figures out she's going, stops and finishes on the potty. I'm just so very proud of her.

Is it possible that two years have come and gone already? It seems like just yesterday I was adjusting to being a new momma. And here you are such a big girl, walking and talking.

You are growing up so very fast. I find myself often wishing that I could slow time down. Here's to a wonderful third year my love.

A Time for Changes

Wow, once again it's been way too long since my last update! The girls have done so many new things.
On July 3rd my Holly turned two. It seems like just yesterday I was seeing her for the first time. We had Grandpa Duane and Grandma Cindy, Papa Gene and Grandma Kitty, Nana and Papa Dow, Aunt Elena and Zane, Uncles Uriah and Ethan for a party. We had Spaghetti (her favorite) w/ cake and ice cream (also her favorite). The cake was Thomas the Train, she had seen it at the bakery so we suprised her w/ it. She got a baby doll stroller and a new bed. On the 5th she took her first nap in her new bed and has taken naps in it everyday since. On July 10th she decided she wanted to begin sleeping in her bed at night (she tucked herself in LOL). Her favorite thing to do is play outside and play w/ her toy kitchen (she says I cookin'). She is growing up so fast.
Kylie is also growing so fast! on June 9th she rolled over for the first time. On June 24th she sat all by herself for the first time. She is continuing to get stronger and stronger w/ the sitting, every day it's for longer periods of time before she tires and is ready to be picked up or falls over. However, she refuses to roll over again, I find this very odd but I guess it just goes to show you just how different kids are. I love watching all of the developements of both of my girls. As they learn new things it opens up a whole new world for them. Kylie has also began to take 1-2 hour naps each day in her own bed! I love the days that her nap overlaps big sister's because I get time to regroup and not be in such a bad mood for the afternoon.

New Milestones

Wow what a ride my life has become! I so love being a mommy to my girls! We seem to reach new milestones daily (some big and some small).
Holly is showing more of an interest in potty training every day. We finally decided to start working on it with her when we're at home, she doesn't wear a diaper except at nap time, bed time, and when we're out. She is growing her vocabulary on a daily basis, so we have realized how much we have to watch how and what we say. She is also learning to ride her tricycle, unfortunately she is like her mommy and the skills it takes to figure out how to steer and peddle at the same time develop a little slower than some (sorry baby). It makes me sad and happy all at the same time to see her growing up. I know that's what's supposed to happen yet I find myself wanting to slow time down some.
Kylie laughed for the first time today! What a fun suprise that was. I guess she thought it was funny that big sister was using mom as a jungle gym. She's beginning to try to turn over (from her back to her tummy- I guess she's gonna do the hard stuff first since she hates tummy time) she rolled up on her side the other day and has been doing it since, so it could be any day. She also loves to jabber non stop and uses inflections when doing so, it sounds like she's telling you a big story (so fun to listen to). What a big girl, she weighs somewhere around 15 1/2 lbs at just 3 months and is about 27" long!
